Marae Based Wananga Grants

PURPOSE:
To support ngā hapū o Ngati Whakaue to convene Marae based Wānanga in order to learn, maintain, uphold, develop and retain te reo me nga tikanga o Ngati Whakaue i raro i te kawa tapū o Te Arawa,

To provide support for Wānanga that preserve and maintain Ngati Whakaue and Te Arawa cultural continuity.

Application can ONLY be made using the ONLINE form.

Applications must be submitted by the deadline dates listed below and within a reasonable timeframe prior to the proposed Wānanga 


POLICY & PROCESS

Please ensure you read the policy document prior to completing your online form.  

The Committee consider applications at their monthly meetings, with recommendations to the full Board early in the next month.   Applicants will be notified of outcomes by email as soon as possible following the full Board meeting. 

 2024: Application deadlines:

  • 25 September
  • 23 October
  • 20 November (last meeting for the year)

ONLINE Application Form and Accountability requirements

Download the Marae Based Wānanga Grants Reference Sheet before you begin. This will help you understand what questions you will be asked in the online form, to build your answers and gather documentation.  It also outlines the accountability reporting requirements for successful applications. 

Online application form must be submitted, hard copy not accepted.

Link to the online form below.   At the end of your form you will be required to upload:

  1. Evidence of the Marae bank account to which grant funding to be paid.
  2. Budget: Your full and clear budget showing Wananga costs, any income including Participant contributions, and the amount of grant you are seeking.   The policy document and the online form contains guidance on cost items that may be covered.
    Note the maximum grant available is $3,000.  
  3. Supporting document: Refer to the policy document for guidance on this.
    Letter of approval from the Marae Trustees or Komiti Whakahaere which is endorsed by the Marae Kaumatua.

ONLINE Accountability reporting process (for successful applications).
Refer to the Policy  and Marae Based Wānanga Grants Reference Sheet for information.

If your application is successful, you will be required to submit your Accountability report within 30 days of completion of the Wānanga.  Following completion of the Wānanga a link will be emailed to you to access your online accountability report form.  With your accountability report you will be required to upload:

  1. Full clear budget summary showing your actual spend & income, against proposed budget as submitted with your application.
  2. Summary on outcomes and Evaluation forms by participants (click here to print form).   For upload, please scan all completed evaluation forms to ONE PDF document.
  3. A summary of any other Evaluation undertaken.
  4. Photos

If any unused funds, these to be repaid to NWEETB.  Contact the Secretary’s office to arrange.
