Water Safety and Scuba Dive Programme run by Aotearoa Dive (Rotorua)

 

Applications for 2024 programme are OPEN

Applications will open shortly for Ngāti Whakaue to receive sponsorship from Ngāti Whakaue Education Endowment Trust Board to undertake the Adult Open Water dive programme with Aotearoa Dive (Rotorua) during 2024.

Application must be made using the online form (link below).   

Aim:

To increase the diving capacity of Ngāti Whakaue to improve water skills and to gather kai moana for our local Marae.  Ngāti Whakaue participating in “Kia Ruku Kia Ora’ will learn:

  • To enjoy and to be safe and confident in and around waterways including gathering kai moana
  • Technical diving skills
  • Knowledge, skills, and attitudes that can, post Kia Ruku Kia Ora, enable them to engage in further dive courses should they so wish.

  • Applications are limited, first in first served basis.
  • Successful applicants will enrol with, and pay full programme fee to Aotearoa Dive
  • Aotearoa Dive will report to NWEETB.
  • On successful completion of the programme, a refund of 75% of programme fee paid, will be made to you (the applicant)

 IMPORTANT **:

If you are interested in applying for sponsorship, you must first contact Aotearoa Dive to discuss the programme and obtain a reference number. 

(That number will start with AD - exampled AD-9999).    You will require this number to complete your online application form.

Application and Enrolment Criteria:

  1. Eligibility for the programme will be determined by NWEETB on completed application. The Board will recognise those applicants (including legally adopted children) who are Ngāti Whakaue descendant of an original owner of Pukeroa Oruawhata Block, or descendants of one or more of the 6 Koromatua o Ngāti Whakaue. Whangai will be considered in terms of the Board’s Whakapapa Policy (2015) No. 0611
  2. Verified whakapapa sheet must be uploaded with your online application form.
  3. Application is on a first in first served basis – places are limited.
  4. Applicants must first contact Aotearoa Dive to discuss the programme, and obtain a Reference number
  5. Successful applicants will receive an email notification of eligibility for sponsorship.
  6. Successful applicants will enrol with Aotearoa Dive, Rotorua, and pay 100% of the required fee directly to Aotearoa Dive.
  7. Sponsorship offer will expire 1 month from issue - to allow other applicants to take the opportunity
  8. On [successful] completion of the programme, Aotearoa Dive will advise NWEETB and confirm fees payment.  Sponsorship reimbursement will then be paid (to the applicant) by direct bank lodgement.
  9. Participants will be notified of reimbursement approval or failure to meet the criteria for reimbursement.
  10. Eligibility for fee sponsorship will cease when the participant has completed the dive course; Failure to complete a course will preclude an application from this grant and future funding.

 

Applications for Aotearoa Dive sponsorship are online only

Application process:   You must complete and submit the NWEETB ONLINE application form for consideration.

You will require:  

  • Your reference number from Aotearoa Dive

You will be required to upload digital copies of your supporting information:

  1. Verified whakapapa sheet.

    A blank copy of the whakapapa sheet for completion can be downloaded HERE or collected from the office.  

  2. Confirmation of bank account name & number (as entered in online form) for sponsorship payments.

 ALL APPLICANTS:  Please READ the instructions, then REGISTER or LOGIN to start your application 

1.  REGISTRATION:
Application can ONLY be made by completing the ONLINE form.
You only need to register once, to allow you future access to this and other NWEE online applications when available. You will also be able to login at any time to update your personal details. 
PLEASE NOTE: You must register once for each individual applicant; you cannot fill in a form for your children under your login. Please create or log into each individual applicant's portal account to apply. You will need individual/unique email addresses if creating a new account.

  • RETURNING APPLICANTS/ALREADY REGISTERED:
    If you have already applied for a NWEETB Grant via our online portal.

    Click the ‘Already Registered’ link below to login to your existing profile.
    You must re-use your existing login email address as your UsernameOn your first login.

 

  • NEW APPLICANTS:
    If you have NOT applied for a NWEETB Grant via our online portal before.

    Click on the ‘New Applicant’ link below to register and create your portal login to access your online form.

    You will then receive an email with a login confirmation link, to set your password.
    Where possible, try to avoid using your work or tertiary provider email address.
    Ensure you have had your whakapapa sheet completed and verified before you begin (click here to print blank sheet).

2.  Once you are registered, click the ‘Apply Now’ button on the Portal Home page to enter your online application form.

3.  Submit your online form: 
     
Once you have entered all information into your online form, you will be prompted to upload your supporting documents.  
     You MUST then click the SUBMIT button to complete your online form
